Aside from the beautiful lagoon and exquisite scenery that you’ll take in around Knysna’s bustling town, there are numerous wonderful beach, forest and cliff top walks in the Garden Route. Knysna also offers a host of activities such as golfing, ocean safaris, sailingand sunset cruises.
The Garden Route is home to a number of bird and animal sanctuaries; Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, Eagle Encounters, The Knysna Elephant Park and Tenikwa Wild Cat Education Centre are all just down the road.
The area is also home to three beautiful Nature Reserves. Across the water from the lodge is the Featherbed Reserve.Robberg is a thirty minute drive andTsitsikamma, home to the world-famous Otter Trail, is a little further along.
Lazy Days…
If you’re keen for a leisurely day, head into Knysna to explore the array of little shops and scrumptious restaurants that our bustling town has to offer. Take a short drive down the National road and you’ll encounter African arts and crafts and quirky local wooden furniture. Friday evening and Saturday morning is the time to visit the local farmers’ marketswhere friends and family meet and greet. For those who would like a bit of pampering, indulge in a treatment at one of the world-class spas nearby.
Once home you can enjoy a dip in ourprivate swimming pool in the garden, where you’ll be visited by the local birds. Leisure Isle is a suburb thick with vegetation that is home to a large variety of birds: Burchell’s coucals, weaver birds, oriels, drongos, hadeda ibis, sunbirds and the occasional Knysna loerie (touraco) all visit the gardens of Amanzi Island Lodge. In the shallow waters surrounding Leisure Island you’ll spot egrets, plovers, herons and spoonbills.
