If you're keen for a leisurely day, head into Knysna to explore the array of little shops and scrumptious restaurants that our bustling town has to offer. Take a short drive down the National road and you'll encounter African arts and crafts and quirky local wooden furniture. Friday evening and Saturday morning is the time to visit the local farmers’ markets where friends and family meet and greet. For those who would like a bit of pampering, indulge in a treatment at one of the world-class spas nearby.

Once home you can enjoy a dip in our private swimming pool in the garden, where you'll be visited by the local birds. Leisure Isle is a suburb thick with vegetation that is home to a large variety of birds: Burchell's coucals, weaver birds, oriels, drongos, hadeda ibis, sunbirds and the occasional Knysna loerie (touraco) all visit the gardens of Amanzi Island Lodge. In the shallow waters surrounding Leisure Island you'll spot egrets, plovers, herons and spoonbills.

Amanzi has a wide selection of books for you to enjoy, so sit back in our comfortable guest lounge and page through the coffee table books or swap one of your paper backs with one from our library.
